From the Executive Director's Desk
Dear Erie Playhouse Family,
Happy 2008 to you and your family!
If you see any EP staff members, you’ll see us floating above the ground as we received great news in December that will propel your Erie Playhouse into 2008 and years to come…
On December 18th, Erie County Council unanimously voted to accept the Gaming Revenue Plan that includes funding for regional assets. The Erie Playhouse is recognized as a dedicated regional asset - we have a long history, a substantial budget and large numbers of residents and visitors who pass through our doors each year.
In the past, the Erie Playhouse received local government funding via the Arts Council of Erie - the city and/or county would make a donation to the Arts Council of Erie and, as a member, we would share in that donation. This will be the first time in Erie Playhouse history that funds will come directly to us from Erie County to help stabilize and transform the theatre.
We still have work to do. The Gaming Revenue Authority will develop an in-depth application for us to complete. After our application is reviewed, the Authority will award a dollar amount out of the unrestricted gaming revenue funds. The Erie Playhouse will use these funds for the day-to-day programming of the theatre and the creative work we do.
If you would like to read The Report of the Gaming Revenue Committee, Click Here.
The Erie Playhouse is grateful to our government leaders for their foresight to support the cultural life of Erie County, helping the quality of life grow and prosper in our community.
See you at the theatre!

DID YOU KNOW?
The Erie Playhouse is participating in a Shared Services Project with the Children’s Museum, the Civic Center Authority, Erie Art Museum, and the Erie Philharmonic. Two phases of the project have been funded through competitive grants from the Erie Community Foundation. Together, working with Elliott Marketing out of Pittsburgh, we will develop a collective, household-level database of arts and cultural buyers. This project is an excellent step in our ongoing efforts to remain fiscally responsible.
THANK YOU!
Be careful what you wish for – you may just get it!
Thanks to our wonderful patrons and volunteers, the Erie Playhouse received two items on our Christmas List. Thank you to Connor O’Brien for the Finale 2008 computer program and to Judy Fenton of Millcreek Vacuum & Sewing Center for the Husqvarna free-arm sewing machine.
